Locomotive Class ET40 run with own power again
On 7th February 2017 a test run of ET40-52 locomotive took place. After a repair made by Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego i Miejskiego (ZNTKiM) Gdańsk the locomotive went from Gdańsk Kanał Kaszubski to Tczew and back. During the repair no modernizations were made with an exception of some trifles like e.g. modification of exterior lights or improvement of the driver’s compartment. During the test run the maximum operational speed 100 km/h was reached and also a functionality of single construction units was checked and some minor malfunctions were removed.
This locomotive is the first one from a group of five locomotives Class ET40, which were bought by Mr. Bronisław Plata from PKP Cargo in 2016. The repaired locomotive obtained already new international numbers 91 51 3 160 424-0 (section A) and 91 51 3 160 425-7 (section B). The vehicle is registered to the keeper Mr. Tomasz Plata (VKM code is TLOK), who is son of Mr. Bronisław Plata.
The locomotive obtained a livery of a new leaseholder, which will be Lotos Kolej railway operator. The company is planning to use the vehicle especially for hauling of heavy trains between Gdańsk Olszynka (Lotos refinery) and Zduńska Wola Karsznice. In case of one of the locomotives, which leave the ZNTKiM workshop later, there is a big probability of getting an original livery according to original drawings from Škoda Plzeň.
The first repaired locomotive ET40-52 is caught on the upper photo taken on 7th February 2017 at Gdańsk Kanał Kaszubski station. The picture below with the driver’s panel shows that in the workshop the locomotive was really just repaired with no noticeable modernization.
