Locomotive Class S 489.0 (230)
The first AC electric locomotive of the class S 489.0 (today class 230) was manufactured by Škoda Plzeň in 1966. The locomotive amazed not only laics by its interesting design created by well-known industrial designer Otakar Diblík. The locomotives were manufactured for Czechoslovak Railways (ČSD), but after the split of the Czechoslovakia all locomotives of this class fell to the newly established Czech Railways (ČD). Today we can meet locomotives of this class both on passenger and especially freight services on railway line of south Bohemia and south Moravia and after several years also in southwest Slovakia.
