The construction of so-called South Work (later called Nová huť, now ISPAT NOVÁ HUŤ) of the Vítkovice Iron Works was started in 1942 (see also the article
Connective Railway Between Iron Works Nová huť and Vítkovice. The rail transport in the new iron works was important from the beginning. Steam locomotives were here initially in service and steam traction survived here till 1971. First diesel locomotives were here since 1952, but first bigger delivery of diesel locomotives took place at the end of fifties.
